Al Clarke on The History of The Apple Award |

“An apple for the teacher” |

Prof. Alfred A. Clark, Jr. was an important voice in the development of NESA. A past president of NESA’s forerunner, The Massachusetts Sociological Association, Al served for many years on the Executive Council and until his death in 1997 he continued as an active member of NESA. Among his many visible contributions to the Association is the Apple Award. As Steve Green noted, “Al’s work will be carried on by all of us who recognize the importance of good teaching and work at making ourselves and our colleagues better teachers.” Here from the NESA Archives, in his own words, is Al’s recollection of the creation of the Apple Award: |
