April 8th
Opening Day of Fishing Season 
WPWA and the Narragansett Chapter of Trout Unlimited celebrate the first day of trout fishing season with a litter awareness program.  Free fishing advise, free donuts and free coffee in reusable mugs donated by Bess Eaton’s Coffee and Bake Shops are offered to early morning anglers from 6 to 10 a.m.  The seven locations to find us are: Meadowbrook Pond, Carolina Trout Pond, Wyoming Dam, 
Frosty Hollow Pond, Breakheart Pond, Rt. 165 Check-in station, and the 
WPWA office at Barberville Dam.
April 22nd
Earth Day Clean-up
WPWA will be joining forces with the Salt Ponds Coalition, the Narrow River Preservation Association and the Saugatucket River Heritage Corridor Coalition in an area-wide river clean-up.  Contact the office at (401) 539-9017 for more information.
April 29th 
Westerly/Pawcatuck Chamber of Commerce’s Duck Race 
WPWA is participating in this event on the lower Pawcatuck River. 
20,000 rubber ducks will be released (and recovered!).  Please purchase your Duck Adoption Papers from our office as half the proceeds will benefit the WPWA.  Call (401) 539-9017 for more information.

Pawcatuck Watershed Source to Sea Canoe Event
For four Saturdays in June, the WPWA will celebrate National Rivers Month by conducting a series of canoe trips from the headwaters of Wood River in the Arcadia Management Area to the brackish water at the mouth of the Pawcatuck River in Westerly.  The fee is $10 per person per canoe trip and will benefit the WPWA’s conservation work on the Wood and Pawcatuck Rivers.  Canoeist who complete all 4 trips will receive a free t-shirt.  Shuttle service will be provided.  Participants should bring their own canoes, PFD’s, water and lunch.

June 3rd
National Trails Day - WPWA’s “Source to Sea” canoe trips, Part I
We’ll be putting in at the Check-in station on Rt. 165 in Exeter. 
Take-out will be at the Wyoming Dam in Richmond.  (6.5 miles, 1 portage)
June 10th
WPWA’s “Source to Sea” canoe trips, Part II
This second stetch will be from Switch Road in Richmond to Alton Pond take-out in Hopkinton.   State legislators will be invited to join us for part of this trek.

June 17th
National Rivers Day - WPWA's "Source to Sea" Canoe Trips, Part III
This Saturday’s canoe trip will be the longest and most challenging.  No fee will be charged.  Put-in will be below the Alton Dam and take-out will be at Potter Hill in Westerly.  (14.5 miles, 1 portage)
June 24th
National Rivers Day - WPWA's "Source to Sea" Canoe Trips, Part III
This last canoe trip will take us through Westerly and along the CT/RI border.  Put-in below the Potter Hill dam and take-out in Avondale.  There will most likely be Class 2 rapids near White Rock and Stillmanville.  Both of these areas may be portaged if conditions are too rough.  A final party will be held at the property of one of our members.  Certificates of accomplishment and t-shirts will be distributed then.  (9 miles, 0-2 portages) 
July 19th
Family Fun Fishing Day at the Arcadia Hatchery
WPWA, in cooperation with the DEM Fish and Wildlife, will offer the favorite summer activity of the year, the Family Fun Fishing Day at the Arcadia Hatchery.  The fee is $3.00 and covers the cost of worms and a hot dog picnic.  Children of all ages welcome, pre-registration is a must as space is limited.  Contact the WPWA office at (401) 539-9017 for more information.
August 26th
WPWA’s 6th Annual Art in the Watershed Benefit Auction 
The event will be held at the beautifully restored Carolina Mill in Carolina, RI. 
This year’s auction will be a juried show, featuring a variety of mediums by 
dozens of the area’s noted artists.  Cocktails and viewing start at 5:00 p.m., 
live auction begins at 6:30 p.m.  Admission tickets are $30 per person. 
Forty percent of the sale prices from all artwork benefits WPWA.
