The flow of the Congo River and its water levels are affected by rainfall throughout the regions whose rivers and tributaries also contribute to that of the Congo River. These other water sources influence fluctuations in the levels of water which run through the river at different times of year. Although the Congo River is affected slightly by otherlevels of neighboring rivers, the effects tend to be less due to theimmense size of the Congo basin. It seems that even as other rivers flood during certain seasons, no distinguishable effects are seen on the levels in the Congo River.
Due to the study of rain patterns, it has been found that the Congo River is at its highest levels during the months of December and May. Likewise, it has been shown that the river will be at its lowest points in the months of March, April and July. Both the dry spell and the wetter season are due to rain patterns.
