1976 -1977

Abatements at GE plant sites under the 1976
Settlement/Order
elimination of direct untreated discharges to river
enclosure of PCB storage area
collection and treatment of stormwater and industrial wastewater at treatment plant.

1977 - 1978

Removal of 14,000 cubic yards of highly

contaminated material from Remnant Deposit

3A. Contained with dredge spoils from

navigational dredging in New Moreau landfill

(clay-lined, TSCA permitted). Also

conducted bank stabilization of remnant

deposits.

1989 - 1991

Capping of shoreline Remnant Deposits with

2-feet of soil, plus geobentonite mat

(approximately 60 acres). Shoreline

protection upgraded for protection from

100-yr flood. Remedial Action under 1984

ROD. Cost $20 - $30 Million.

1992 - 1993

Capping of two NYSDOT dredge spoils

sites, SA-13 and Bouy 212 4/93

Water flow through abandoned Allen Mill

(Adjacent to GE Hudson Falls plant site) shut

off. Bedrock seeps within the mill and

raceways no longer in contact with river.

Fall 93

Contaminated sediment in upper raceway of

Allen Mill removed, and seep collection

system installed.

1993 - 1994

Removal of sediment from tailrace tunnel

Pressure grouting of fractured bedrock in

upper raceway. 1995

New water treatment plant installed at GE

Hudson Falls plant site for seep collections

and recovery wells.

1995 - 1997

Installation of Recovery wells on GE Hudson

Falls plant site and tailrace tunnel. 1995

GE Ft. Edward plant 004 outfall relocation,

shoreline stabilization, and removal of old

pipeline and trench.

1996

Removal of sediment from lower raceway

and tailrace tunnel 1997

Seep collection system installed in Bakers

Falls plunge pool. 11/97 - present

Removal of contaminated sediment above

Bakers Falls dam to investigate bedrock

seeps.

1997 on

When flow allows, Bakers Falls flow routed

through hydroplant to limit potential for

DNAPL seeps to reach river.
