This is a picture of the Volga River frozen in the winter.
In the
winter the river freezes to a depth of about 6 feet. The ice does
not freeze smoothly, but instead rough. During the winter, people
commute across the river by foot to work or shop in the city.
This
is the same place Russian defenders had to cross the frozen river with
supplies during the battle of Stalingrad in WWII
The Volga River, being the longest in Europe has many Cruise boats pass on its ways every day.
The Volga River on a nice day!
