What is Anthropometrical Signalment?
The method involved measurements of the head, arms, feet, and ears to identify the differences in each person.  The system was developed to aid in the identification of criminals and repeat offenders.

19th Century Alphonse Bertillion, a Parisian anthropologist Initially developed the system
1882 Parisian Police Implemented this system as a reliable method of identifying repeat offenders
Today This theory is considered the basis for identification using computer biometrics and DNA-based identification.
