Carl G. Fisher
and
The Indianapolis Motor
Speedway

By: Ronald Yuhas

The reason for this web page, is to help people realize some of the accomplishments that Carl G Fisher had achieved during his life.  Personally I had never heard of him until Professor Lux mentioned him to me.  The only real thing that I knew about the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was that it was the home of the 500 and the Brickyard 400, Tony George is the man in charge, and some other little facts about the track itself.  So I have also included in this web page some quick facts about the track and a brief timeline that contains some major events.

Carl G Fisher was a who could not sit still.  He always had a new idea or dream.  This is how the Indianapolis Motor Speedway started out.  After a trip to Europe, Carl G Fisher realized how far behind the American automobile manufactures were to their foreign competition.  He realized that the American automobile manufactures needed a testing ground, where their new automobiles could be tested and also raced.  With a little help from James Allison, Arthur Newby, and Frank Wheeler the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was formed.
