Postwar/Modern Aircraft

In the years after WWII, the number of military aircraft which were produced in the United States sharply decreased. Some aircraft that remained after the war were kept in service for some years; however, the advances in the design and technology made it necessary not to produce as many aircraft. This was because the technology was more efficient and cost much more money. Advances in the technology of the weapons which were to be carried on the Bombers also improved. New technology allowed more modern Bombers to fly farther and higher than many of their predecessors. The weapons and fuel payloads of modern Bombers also increased. More advanced avionics and the quick advances in radar technology quickly made the development of fewer, more efficient aircraft a reality.
