Parts and Definitions

Erase Head- An electric signal is sent to the erase head. It disrupts the orientation of the particles erasing anything previously recorded

 Pressure Head- Presses the tape against the playback head when the cassette is put in the player

 Playback Head- A wire is wound around each core, making it act like an electromagnet. The magnetic particles produce a pair of stereo signals and travel to an amplifier or speakers.

 Drive Mechanism- moves the tape from one spindle to the other while playing and recording.
