| As you can see the Breaker has
a blunt point and the Tracer has a narrow point. The narrow point of the tracer helps
focus the impact of the hammer into a narrow line. You can cut a straight line by moving
the chisel a few inches after each hit, in effect "tracing" a line across the
granite, until it breaks across the traced line. The Breaker is more versatile and is used more often. The blunt point focuses the force just enough to be controllable. Instead of straight cuts the breaker breaks chips of granite at the point of the chisel that extend out towards the edge of the granite. This eliminates the need to trace long straight lines, especially on inside corners where a long straight line is impossible. |
