Conclusion
The Yukon Gold Rush was an extremely
important event in American history
and technology. For many that were involved it allowed them to escape
a depressed
economy and lives of farming and manufacturing. It was this
sense of adventure that
made them sell their possession's in order to pursue this dream.
Some that left on the
voyage came back rich, but the majority either lost their lives or returned
poor.
The Gold Rush of 1897-1899 precipitated the invention of new technologies
for
mining gold. The difficult conditions dictated the type of equipment
that was invented,
many of which served models for future ideas. It was the ability
of the American to
adapt that made this period such an outstanding example of American technology.
