How We Came to Collaborate Back
Natalia Ivanova and Julia Novichenok
| A few words about
collaboration in our team. We've known each other since our school time. Then we studied
at the same department of the Linguistic University and now work together at the newspaper
(Julia has full-time job and Natalia - part-time alongside with working at the library).
So, we meet each other often at the office and, besides, socially. Generally, we get along
well but we had no chance to work collaboratively on a common project before and it was
natural for us to start such a project together. Working in collaboration on this project
we can understand if each one's manner of producing ideas, and mode of thinking, etc. meet
the needs of the team and suit our common goal. And on the whole: can we work together
productively? Of course, while working we face some difficulties, such as too many ideas (how to choose the rational one) and different approaches to work. If we have some idea or some point to realize, Julia starts thinking it over only when she sits at the table to do it, and Natalia starts thinking about it immediately after she's given a task. We have different coaching styles: Natalia Caring, and Julia - Analyzing. Julia likes to get things done after short certain time for meditation, while Natalia is a person given to reflection and in two (or twenty two) minds about the outcome (and about the everyday issues). But anyway, knowing each other's ups and downs, we are able to compromise. We try to make our criticism constructive and creative and make joint decisions. We trust each other and have equal ownership in our work. We hope that the blend of our individual and collective efforts will result in an interesting and well-done Web-site and will strengthen our friendship. |
