This three-week Summer School course will focus on the techniques and skills needed for effecting successful collaborative learning at a distance programs in the Social Sciences.  Three phases of training will be emphasized: (1) pedagogy of non-hierarchical, collaborative learning in the fields of History, Economics and Environmental Policy; (2) Internet and other computer information technology skills; and (3) design of collaborative learning at a distance projects.  The course will demonstrate that emerging, cost-effective, computer information technologies offer new breakthroughs for collaborative learning at a distance.  Instructional techniques will include lectures, demonstrations, hands-on Internet training sessions, and collaborative project design.
