Description:
Collaborative
Learning at a Distance in the Social Sciences:
History,
Economics and Environmental Policy
This
three-week Summer School course will focus on the techniques and skills
needed for effecting successful collaborative learning at a distance programs
in the Social Sciences. Three phases of training will be emphasized:
(1) pedagogy of non-hierarchical, collaborative learning in the fields
of History, Economics and Environmental Policy; (2) Internet and other
computer information technology skills; and (3) design of collaborative
learning at a distance projects. The course will demonstrate that
emerging, cost-effective, computer information technologies offer new breakthroughs
for collaborative learning at a distance. Instructional techniques
will include lectures, demonstrations, hands-on Internet training sessions,
and collaborative project design.
