COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course explores the cyclicality of geologic processes that shape the Earth.  For example, volcanic activity and earthquakes contribute to the building of mountains.  In turn, rivers and oceans help to destroy mountains.  This simplistic example is expanded to give the student a very good idea of "how the Earth works".  This course may be taken with a laboratory to fulfill the laboratory requirement.

COURSE MISSION STATEMENT: Develop an appreciation as to why a general knowledge of geological science and environmental issues is important.  This will be accomplished by learning the fundamentals of basic physical geology concepts, advancing environmental science awareness, and promoting skills in solving environmental problems as they relate to business practices.  This course will use case studies to reinforce newly learned concepts, and demonstrate the interdependence of science and business in solving problems you will most likely encounter in the near future.  In addition, this course is designed to meet Bryant's mission to undergraduates as delineated below:

EVALUATION: GRADING POLICY: Straight scale; percentage basis FEEDBACK: Score Cards will be furnished after each evaluation event. This will provide a current status of individual class standing.

RESCHEDULING: Arrangements to take exams/quizes earlier or later must be made prior to their scheduled date. Documentation of extenuating circumstances for missing an exam/quiz without prior notification is required. Different exams/quizes will be given for make-ups. Make-ups must be completed within one week of the regular scheduled date.  Grades for make-up exams/quizes, and late homework/papers will be reduced by 10% to compensate for additional preparation time.

ATTENDENCE/PARTICIPATION: Attendance is required for optimal performance on evaluation items. Participation is highly recommended.  Spot attendance will be taken and final grades will be adjusted to reward attendence.
