Introduction
Bryant University increasingly depends on computer-supported information systems
and communications infrastructure. This dependency will continue to grow. The
increasing dependency on computers and communications infrastructure for operational
support poses the risk that a lengthy loss of these capabilities could seriously affect
the overall performance of the University.
Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is comprised of assessing risks and subsequently
developing strategies how to cope if an unexpected event or disaster interrupts
daily processes. Any suspension of service, large or small, can significantly impact
University business regardless of down time. Business continuity plans for ways to
minimize the impart of any disruption.
Disaster Recovery (DR) is the process by which you resume business after a disruptive
event. Technically, the "Disaster Recovery Plan" deals with the restoration of computer
systems with all attendant software and connections to full functionality under a variety
of damaging or interfering external conditions. Disaster recovery primarily focuses on how
to cope with major catastrophes that can potentially occur which would end or take service
off-line for an extended period.
