The African Studies Workshop

The 6th Annual African Studies Workshop (ASW) will take place on October 26th, 2012 in downtown Providence, RI. The event will provide Africans living in the United States information about issues related to immigration and citizenship. Through an open public forum, the afternoon event will focus on the creation of sustainable and effective integration of African peoples to the United States. It will also inform the broader public about the African community’s ability to migrate and assimilate into American culture. Almost 65,000 Africans live in Rhode Island. Assisting and understanding this community is vitally important to creating social benefits for everyone.

This year’s event will feature Dr. Wanjiru Kamau from the
Washington, D.C. based organization African Immigrant and Refugee Foundation. Dr. Kamau’s will share her extensive knowledge and experience working with immigrants in the United States.
