Bryant Alumni Gather to Give Back
On November 10, Massachusetts area alumni will make their annual visit to Cradles to Crayons. Cradles to Crayons was founded in 2002, with the mission of providing to children ages 0 to 12 all the physical goods needed to be safe, protected from the elements, and ready to learn. Cradles to Crayons partners with social-service organizations to ensure donations will go to a deserving local child, for whom the donation was specifically requested. At the Cradles to Crayons warehouse, Bryant alumni volunteers inspect incoming books, match outfits, sort and test toys, stuff backpacks, or fill orders that meet the needs of individual boys and girls in their local communities. There are a few volunteers spots remaining. Please sign up today if you are interested in helping on November 10th. In addition, we have secured a second evening of service at Cradles to Crayons for Tuesday, January 26th, 2010.

The RI RAN is hosting its first ever wine tasting and food drive at the Biltmore Hotel on November 18. Sample a few of the world's most unique and delicious wines. Mark Gasbarro and his expert staff explain the wines' origin, varietals, and production. In addition to the beautiful setting and fine hors d’oeuvres, the evening is sure to be memorable. Attendees can help Federal Hill House provide up to 500 needy families with food for Thanksgiving. Each food drive participant will be entered to win a copious wine basket, compliments of Gasbarro’s and Bryant Gear.

For New York Area alumni, a small group is gathering for a morning of volunteer service on Saturday, December 5. Up to fifteen Bryant Alumni may sign up to help at the St. Peter’s Food Pantry in Manhattan. Together, alumni volunteers will help stock shelves, assist patrons and generally brighten someone's day. In addition to your volunteer effort, the food pantry gratefully welcomes non perishable donations, in non-breakable packages. In New York City, one of the richest cities in the world, approximately 1.3 million people — largely comprised of women, children, seniors, the working poor and people with disabilities — rely on soup kitchens and food pantries. St. Peter’s Food Pantry is partnered with Food Bank For New York City in the struggle to provide hunger relief. Food Bank for NYC works to end hunger and increase access to affordable, nutritious food for low-income New Yorkers through a comprehensive group of programs that combat hunger and its causes.
