Are you Linked in to Bryant?
Growing at the rate of 50 new alumni members per week, the Bryant University Alumni Association group on Linked In is a powerful force for networking, information sharing, and job searches. A new feature that will allow alumni to join a subgroup provides a vehicle for alumni from similar industries and affinities to find one another and network in a more targeted way.
The alumni office is working on a template for the subgroups – which are likely to include areas such as entrepreneurship, healthcare, accounting, and other industries. It is also possible to have subgroups set up by region or by other interest areas, such as green technology.
There are several organized Bryant alumni groups on Linked in, but the Alumni Association created an official group in 2008 and it now has more than 2,000 active members. Alumni who are already on Linked In can search for Bryant Alumni Association and request to be approved as members.
Linked In is just one of many online networking tools for alumni. Alumni Relations Director Robin Warde points out that Bryant’s alumni web site www.bryant.edu/alumni is still the definitive site for alumni connections – and includes contact information on all 40,000 living alumni worldwide.
