The China Explorers consist of the students enrolled in the "Environmental Studies of China" course offered in the spring semester at Bryant College.  These students are currently preparing for this excursion by attempting to learn the culture, language, current issues, and even attempting to use chopsticks as a dinner utensil.  The journey begins on May 25th, 1999.
                                               Acknowledgement

The course and the study trip were a true college-wide effort. It would not be so successful without the support of the college and departmental administration and the involvement of Bryant faculty and staff. I would like to thank the following professors who have spent their time as guest speakers during the on campus period:

S.H. Li (Department of Finance),
W. Graves and T. Hasseler (Department of Humanities),
J. Estey (Department of History),
H. Ma (Department of Management),
G. Langlois and D. Betsch (Department of Science and Technology).

Ms. Kate Sullivan (Director of Intercultural Center) not only provided a lecture on cross culture experience but also helped with visa process and made invaluable suggestions for the program. Mr. Bob Rico offered computer assistance, and John Rattigan kindly loaned a Bryant College flag to the Explorers. Prof. Dan McNally (Department of Science and Technology) served as our Bryant campus contact person and helped posting students' daily journals to our website.

On behalf of President Machtley, Vice-president V.K. Unni met the students in our last training session, sending the college support during the most difficult times shortly after the bombing incident. Dean Earl Briden helped with college documentation for passing through the customs. Vice-president Thomas Eakin supported us by going to the airport on our departure day.

Our Chinese hosts and their institutions have put tremendous efforts and manpower to support our program in China in various ways. I would not imagine what would be the result without their active support and participation. Our students and myself are deeply indebted to them.
