5/24 (Wed) Beijing Arrive in Beijing Capital International Airport at 5:35 PM, local time.
5/25 (Thu) Beijing

Morning: Opening ceremony at the Tiananmen Square and visit The Museum of National History
Afternoon: American Chambers of Commerce, Great Wall Hotel; money exchange.

5/26 (Fri) Beijing One day trip to Tianjing, visit the Tianjing High-tech Development Park. Tour Bank of China, Tianjing Branch (hosted by Mr. Shiqiang Wu, MBA, Director of credit and loan department, Tianjing Branch, Bank of China).
Tour Motorola manufacture facility in Tianjing Business Development Park.
5/27 (Sat) Beijing Morning: Sightseeing at the Summer Palace.
Afternoon: Visit Biology Department of the Tsinghua University (the Chinese MIT). Tour new biotechnology lab, discussing biotechnology and endangered species in China (hosted by Prof. Qingyu Wu).
5/28 (Sun) Beijing One day trip to tour the Great Wall.
Evening: Leaving for Linqu (Shandong Province) by overnight train.
5/29 (Mon) Linqu, Shandong Stay at the guesthouse of the Shanwang Fossil Museum.
Morning: Visit Shanwang Fossil Museum.
Afternoon: Visit Qingzhou Archeological Museum.
5/30 (Tue) Linqu, Shandong One day: Geology field trip to the Shanwang fossil beds (A national reserve area, also on the UNSCO World Heritage List) and a local mining district, fossil collecting.
Evening: Lecture - Discovery and study of Shanwang fossils: the scientific values and conflicts between fossil preservation and local mining industry (by Hong Yang)
5/31 (Wed) Linqu, Shandong

Morning: The Cloud Mt. visit.
Afternoon: Visit local industries.
Evening: Discussion on conservation and environmental protection with Mr. Gunhui Fan (Director of Linqu County Economic Committee) and Mr. Bo Sun (Director of Shanwang Fossil Museum).

6/01 (Thu) Linqu to Nanjing Travel by train.
6/02 (Fri) Nanjing Free day for relaxation and sightseeing.
6/03 (Sat) Nanjing Morning: Tour the Eastern Mountain areas.
Afternoon: Confucius Temple.
Evening: Dinner at the Confucius Temple.
6/04 (Sun) Wuxi (Near Nanjing) Stay at the guesthouse of the Ecosystem Research Center on Taihu Lake.
Morning: Travel from Nanjing to Wuxi by bus.
Afternoon: Engage in scientific research dealing with environmental monitoring on lake water quality and aquatic life. Collect water and fish samples, visit water chemistry and microbiology labs at the center.
Evening: Guest seminar: "Taihu Ecological Research" by a local scientist.
6/05 (Mon) Wuxi Morning: Visit Eastman Kodak manufacturing facility, discussing water purification control and other environmental issues with Kodak personnel.
Afternoon: Fruit picking on Island of Taihu Lake.
Evening: Research data processing.
6/06 (Tue) Wuxi Morning: A half-day tour to visit the Zhouahuang Village (a well known historical site with traditional Chinese architecture and a unique fishing culture).
Afternoon: Travel to Nanjing Airport and fly to Xian.
6/07 (Wed) Xian Stay at the guesthouse of the Xian College of Geology.
One day trip to visit the tomb of the first emperor of China (the site of terra-cotta soldiers).
Evening: Local food festival.
6/08 (Thu) Xian Morning: Lishan Mt.
Afternoon: Overnight train to Beijing
6/09 (Fri) Beijing Morning: Visit the Tiananman Square.
Afternoon: Sightseeing in the Forbidden City.
6/10 (Sat) Beijing

Morning: Beijing Zoo.
Afternoon: Discussion and preparation for a poster exhibit for World Trade Day (June 16) at Bryant campus.
Evening: Beijing Opera.

6/11 (Sun) Beijing Morning: Visit an ordinary Chinese family.
Afternoon: Shopping and free time.
6/12 (Mon) Beijing Morning: Visit the National People's Congress.
Afternoon and Evening: Farewell party at the Beihai Park (one of the emperor's palaces during the Ching Dynasty).
6/13 (Tue) Beijing - Detroit - Providence Beijing Capital International Airport, 10:55 AM, return to US (Beijing - Detroit - Providence).
